I dreamt
I was drinking
French Roast Hazelnut
with cream and
3 sugars
while you danced
in the grass.
And in the brush pile,
where the birds and squirrels
were gossiping about your
Old White Man Shuffle,
a raccoon sat watching,
wishing he could take off his mask
and join you
again.

All you have to do

Laugh.
And to worship,
we sing-
it’s a choir full of

The only difference is
We are the one
giving the message to
God.
Our feet beating
a tattoo
of

into pine needles,
our hands passing fire
like an offering plate
and our mouths,
scented with coffee cream,
our tongues tired
from tasting
